A specialist seminar on GIS-education in Europe.
This will be the 8th European GIS in Education Seminar - EUGISES. After very successful meetings in the Netherlands (1998), Hungary (2000), Spain (2002), Austria (2004), Poland (2006), UK (2006) and Greece (2010), it will come to Leuven in Belgium in 2012. The basic purpose of the seminar remains unchanged, an occasion for all of those in Europe interested in teaching and learning the Science, Technology and Applications of GIS to meet to share ideas, best practice, innovation, the odd confession and possibly a drink or two. The social aspect will be important as this will be a meeting of old and new friends with a shared interest and passion.
Participants will be able to submit full technical papers and posters and more importantly will have the chance to participate in the discussion of all the presented work. The papers will be presented in a single stream through the seminar to ensure that all delegates can attend every session. Contributions will be published in an ISBN-conference book.
The specific focus of the 2012 edition of the seminar is the search for boundaries of the GIS educational playing field. Which organisational, technical, geographical and content-wise elements can be incorporated in a meaningful way in GIS-education? Which should be avoided?
